Gender Responsive Budgeting
Budgets have different impacts on women and men, even if they seem to be gender-neutral. Gender Responsive Budgeting is a method to analyse the impact of government expenditure and revenue on both men and women and to examine how the different needs of women and men are met by the provided services. Gender Responsive Budgeting (analysis, planning, and budgeting) contributes to ensuring that expenditure is gender-sensitive making budgets an efficient and effective instrument to address gender inequalities and achieve gender equality goals. This is the case for national, provincial as well as municipal governments.
